Brandywine Arts Festival

Description: For 50 years, this popular event has attracted crowds to a weekend of arts and fine crafts in Brandywine Park. Browsers and shoppers with children and pets in-tow enjoy the unique creations of more than 200 artisians spread out around Josephine's Fountain. Description: Winterthur's Delaware Antiques Show in its fifth decade is a gathering of antique collectors, experts and dealers for a weekend of lectures, receptions and buying. Dealers of American decorative arts, furnishings, silver, pottery and more set up lavish booths to display their 17th-19th century treasures at the Chase Center. Celebrity experts such as the Keno brothers of Antique Roadshow fame have attended past shows.

Harvest Moon Festival at Coverdale Farm

Description: Harvest Moon Festival is a weekend of banjo and pumpkin pickin' at Coverdale Farm, Delaware Nature Society's 19th-century educational farm. Festivities include two days of hayrides, scarecrow building, live music, craft markets and fresh local foods. The stone barn, built in the late 1770s, is open for visiting the Jersey cows, chicks, pigs, horses and sheep. Interpreters lead milking demonstrations, bottle-feed baby calves, make apple cider, and assist in birdwatching sessions. American Indian exhibits encourage group participation and dance.

Ramsey's Farm Pumpkin Picking and Corn Maze

Description: This annual ritual is a-Mazing! Ramsey's Pumpkin Patch working farm opens annually at the end of September for weekend family fun, pumpkin picking, hayrides and scarecrow making. The most popular attraction is a 10-acre corn maze designed with interactive stations along the way. Tweens may prefer the sorghum maze, and children under age 6 have the hay bale maze to themelves in full view of parents. Cider and refreshments are a perfect ending. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult; no pets allowed.

Saint Patrick's Day Parade

Description: Irish dancers, leprechauns, bagpipers, politicians, and even St. Patrick himself march up King Street for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Wilmington. Held the Saturday before St. Patrick's, the event beckons Irish and Irish-wannabes to don the green and make merry. The Mayor, state and local representatives and perhaps even a senator join the Irish Club of Delaware to greet the 10,000 in attendance.
